What We Believe The Scriptures-The Bible is the inspired Word of God, the product of holy men of old who spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. The New Covenant, as recorded in the New Testament, we accept as our infallible guide in matters pertaining to conduct and doctrine (2 Tim. 3:16; 1 Thes. 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21). The One True God- The one true God has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent, self-revealed "I AM"; and further revealed Himself as embodying the principles of relationship and association, i.e., as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Christ and His Work- We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men through His death on the cross and resurrection from the dead so that whosoever believeth in Him would be saved. The Holy Spirit- We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; and, that He is the supernatural agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the Body of Christ, indwelling and sealing them unto the day of redemption. Man, His Fall, and Redemption- Man is a created being, made in the likeness and image of God, but through Adam's transgression and fall, sin came into the world. The Bible says "...all have sinned, and come short of the glory or God," and "...There is none righteous, no, not one." (Rom.3:10; 3:23). Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was manifested to undo the works of the devil and gave His life and shed His blood to redeem and restore man back to God (Rom. 5:14; 1 John 3:8). The Evidence of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit- We believe the full consumption of the Baptism of believers in the Holy Ghost's evidenced by the initial physical sign of speaking with other tongues as the Holy Spirit gives utterance; and by the subsequent manifestation of Spiritual power in public testimony and service. The evidence of spiritual gifts are described in ( I Cor. 12) and may be received by earnestly seeking the Lord. The Church- We believe the Church is the Body of Christ the habitation of God through the Spirit, with divine appointments for the fulfillment of her great commission. All, who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, are a part of the Body of Christ, and are not limited to any certain group or organization made by man, but whosoever has their name written in the Book of Life in Heaven. We believe that the establishment and continuance of local churches is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament Scriptures. The Ministry and Evangelism- We believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the different types of ministries are to be manifested according to the scriptures. This includes divine healing, which is provided for in the atonement, and is the privilege of all believers. All who believe are called to be ministers and witnesses for the Lord in whatever captivity they are able. Divinely called and Spiritually ordained ministry has been provided by out Lord for a two-fold purpose:
Missions- We believe that God has given the Church a Great Commission to proclaim the Gospel to all nations so that there might be a great multitude from every nation, tribe, and ethnic group, and language group who believe on the Lord, Jesus Christ. As ambassadors of Christ, we must use all available means to go to the foreign nations and not wait for them to come to us. Divine Healing- Healing is for the physical ills of the human body and is given by the power of God through the prayer of faith, and by the laying on of hands. It is provided for in the atonement of Christ, and is the privilege of every member of the Church today (James 5:14,15; Mark 16:18; Is. 53:4,5; Matt. 8:17; I Peter 2:24). Sanctification-The Bible teaches that without holiness no man can see the Lord. We believe in the Doctrine of Sanctification as a definite, yet progressive work of grace, commencing at the time of regeneration and continuing until the consummation of salvation of Christ's return (Heb. 12:14; I Thes. 5:23; II Peter 3:18; II Cor. 3:18; Phil. 3:12-14; I Cor. 1:30). |
